Over Hong Kong Airlines

About

Established in 2006, Hong Kong Airlines is a full-service carrier based in Hong Kong, offering a safe and reliable travel experience. Operating an all-Airbus fleet, including A320, A321, and A330 aircraft, the airline serves nearly 30 cities in the Asia-Pacific region and over 100 destinations globally through interline and code-share agreements.

Recognized with a Skytrax four-star rating since 2011, the airline prioritizes customer service and safety. It supports aviation development through its HKA Training Academy, offering world-class training facilities. Dedicated to corporate social responsibility, it promotes aviation education and enhances Hong Kong’s connectivity, leveraging opportunities from the airport’s three-runway system and expanding into Belt and Road markets.

Baggage Allowance

Hong Kong Airlines’ baggage policies emphasize secure packing and compliance with safety standards.

Checked baggage must exclude fragile items, valuables, and dangerous goods, with allowances varying by class and route.

Business Class permits up to 40kg (2 pieces). Business passengers may carry 2 pieces of cabin baggage (7kg each)

Various Economy tiers offer checked baggage ranging from 20–30kg and allow 1 piece of cabin baggage.

Fortune Wing Club members receive enhanced allowances, and prepaid excess baggage is available within specified limits.

Oversized cabin baggage incurs charges and may be stowed.

Fortune Wings Club

Fortune Wings Club, Hong Kong Airlines’ global loyalty program, offers Platinum, Gold, and Silver tiers with exclusive benefits.

Members earn Status Qualifying Points (SQP) and Status Qualifying Segments (SQS) based on flight distance, fare class, and partner airline travel. These contribute to membership renewal or upgrades but cannot be redeemed for awards. Award Points are earned through flights, co-branded credit card spending, hotel bookings, and car rentals. These points can be redeemed for air tickets, upgrades, and lifestyle rewards, providing additional value to frequent travelers. The program enhances the travel experience with diverse earning and redemption opportunities.

Check-in

Hong Kong Airlines offers online check-in, allowing passengers to pre-register 48 hours or more before departure. This enables seat selection and submission of necessary details in advance. The system automatically completes check-in between 48 and 1.5 hours before departure, with email and SMS notifications sent upon completion. Passengers who do not receive confirmation 24 hours before departure should verify their status online.

Passengers can check in online for up to five people on the same itinerary, retrieve boarding passes via mobile or self-service kiosks, and drop off baggage at designated counters.

Airport check-in opens 2.5 hours before departure.

Boarding gates close 20 minutes prior.

Onboard Support

Hong Kong Airlines trains all ground personnel and cabin crew to assist passengers with special care needs. Guests should notify the airline 48 hours in advance to arrange services such as wheelchair assistance and seating support. In-flight personal care needs, including eating, medications, and lavatory assistance, are typically not provided.

Passengers may use medical devices onboard.

Those with hearing or visual impairment receive meet-and-assist, safety briefings, and priority boarding.

Walking aids are allowed when safely stowed; a safety assistant may be required in emergencies. Guests with guide or assistance dogs must contact customer service 48 hours prior, providing documentation.
